Experiencing Foot or Ankle Pain?
While minimally invasive surgery has taken the medical field by storm as a “new and improved” form of surgery, Dr. Jordan W. Rachlin of Monroe Foot Care in Orange County, New York, has been performing this procedure for over thirty years. As one of a small number of doctors originally trained in this technique, Dr. Rachlin has treated thousands of people suffering from bunions and hammertoes. At Monroe Foot Care, our minimally invasive surgeries allow our patients to walk into our office for the procedure and then walk out; going home in 1-2 hours. As a general rule, our patients have their surgery performed on a Friday and are able to return to work on a Monday with minimal discomfort.
Because this technique is much less invasive than traditional surgery, the postoperative follow-up is much more comfortable. With this technique, we do not use any pins, staples, wires, or screws. The procedure does require 2-3 stitches which are removed in 1 week. Postoperative pain is controlled with medications such as therapeutic doses of Motrin or Aleve. Tylenol with codeine is given as a back-up. Some people need this; most people do not.
In addition to minimally invasive surgery, we also utilize endoscopic procedures for the treatment of heel pain (plantar fasciitis and heel spurs) and for the treatment of neuromas. Custom orthotics are available to all our patients ranging from toddlers to seniors.
Most importantly, our patients are like family and are given as much time as needed for the proper care of their feet.
